2021: a year of growth, wins, and new partnerships

At this time of the year, we like to look back on all that we experienced and reflect on the wins and challenges we faced. There is no doubt that 2021 has been a demanding year for all of us but these are the conditions in which we thrive. In fact, it is when times are tough and our backs are against the wall that we truly reveal our character. And boy was there a lot of wall to lean back into this year.

Despite the challenges most businesses faced, we decided not to capitulate or slow down. Instead, we grew. In true WeAreBrain fashion of going against the grain, we achieved our business goals in spite of everything. And some.

Business growth

Our business grew by 50% this year which we are immensely proud of when considering how many companies have been forced to reduce their output or close down completely.

In spite of everything, we continued our agency group ambitions. We launched Grover (marketing and branding) and Solving (design) as our new agency labels. And our growth isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Early next year, we will launch an exciting new venture (more on this to come).

Knowledge sharing

This year, we published a book titled Working Machines: An Executive’s Guide to AI and Intelligent Automation. The book is designed to guide business owners, C-level executives, and senior management to help shape and create an effective AI solution that suits their business. Having never written or published a book before, the project took months of hard work to complete and we are very proud of the result.

More about the story behind our first book, here.

The best team

Even though we have not been able to see each other in person as much as we would like due to social distancing and virtual working, our team has bonded closely, remotely. In addition, we welcomed a staggering 26 new team members to our Brainiac family this year.

Our marvelous tribe of dedicated Brainiacs yet again rose to the challenges and the team’s effort and perseverance has made 2021 a successful year for us. We are so lucky to have the team we have. Their professionalism and unwavering love for what they do is evident in everything we have achieved together this year.

And guess what, we are still hiring!

Incredible clients and partners

This year, we were fortunate enough to support many new partners realising their digital growth ambitions.

  • The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN)
  • Greek National Tourism Board
  • Radio Holland (part of PON)
  • Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL)
  • OpenDairy
  • Sloddervos
  • 2Fair
  • Afari
  • J&B Craft Drinks

We were fortunate enough to contribute a tiny little bit to the successful organisation of this year’s Tokyo Olympics with our ongoing collaboration with NOC*NSF and Ordina. Additionally, we established strong new partnerships in the sports and consumer goods vertical with RONIN and in the energy sector with Amsterdam-based agency The Garage.

We have really enjoyed working together and we thank them greatly for their ongoing trust and collaboration. We’re really looking forward to 2022 and achieving amazing things together.

In addition, we also expanded our business relationships and collaboration with our long-standing partners Maxeda DIY Group, TIP Europe, TheOptimal.Me, and ICCA — thank you for the continued trust! We can’t wait to take our collaboration to the next level in 2022.

Awards and industry recognition

Our Beautiful News platform was nominated for a Drupal Splash Award in the category Publishing Media. And our work on the Praxis AR app was nominated for a DIA (Dutch Interactive Awards) in the Tools category.

We were very proud to be named as one of the top full-service digital agencies (medium size) in the prestigious Emerce 100 list. On top of that, we were included in The Manifest’s Top 10 Artificial Intelligence (AI) Companies in the Netherlands, as well as being mentioned as one of Clutch’s Top Development & IT Companies in Ukraine.

We are always proud of the work we accomplish for our clients and seeing their faces when we deliver beyond expectations is all the reward we need…but a shiny trophy sure does look good in our office :).

That’s a wrap, 2021

We want to thank every Brainiac, client, and collaborator for working closely with us to make 2021 a year we can all look back proudly upon. It is because we surround ourselves with good people that we are able to run a successful business and overcome any challenges set before us.

We look forward to all the ups and downs, wins and losses, and challenges-a-plenty waiting for us in 2022. If next year is anything like 2021 then we will definitely have our work cut out for us but we’re looking forward to rising to the challenges.
