Farewell 2019, Hello 2020!

With the close of the year fast approaching, our heads are still spinning with excitement from all the action, successes, and challenges that 2019 has given us so far. This year, while much of the world has been focussed on Brexit and presidential impeachments, we preferred keeping up to date with what else has been going on: Amsterdam celebrated Rembrandt’s legacy all year to commemorate 350 years since his death, and South Africa won the Rugby World Cup 2019 for a record-equalling 3rd time (and word on the street is that the country is still in celebration-mode!).

Rewards and recognition

But 2019 has been good to us too, in many profound and interesting ways. Our co-founder and seafaring sailor Elvire was included in this year’s TheNextWomen100 most successful female entrepreneurs in The Netherlands. And all of us at WeAreBrain were nominated for various prestigious awards, including nominations for a Dutch Interactive Award, not one but two SpinAwards in the AI and Innovation categories for our contribution to the HEINEKEN Rewards platform. We were nominated for an Awwward for our work on the Ginkgo Agency website, and our collaboration with TheOptimal.me and partnership with FireFinch was also nominated in this year’s Drupal Splash Awards.

Our co-venture clevergig delivered some incredible results and was included in Seedtable’s Best Startups in Amsterdam to Watch list. With our Tur.ai platform we attended Websummit in Lisbon and we were invited as guest speakers during AI Ukraine summit. And long term partners, SidelineSwap, were listed in the Top 50 Startups to Watch in Boston. We are very proud and grateful for the recognition we have received, and for the calibre of work we have produced for all of our global clients.

WeAreBrain is turning 5!

2019 has been the 5th year we’ve been in operation — and what a tremendous and challenging 5 years it has been. We’ve relied on our core brand values — we’re boldcurioushumble, and kind — to get us to where we are today, and each value has provided us with grounding and direction to pursue our ambitions. Here’s why 5 is the best age to be. Happy birthday to us!

Thank you to all our clients that have supported us as we have grown. Without your trust and confidence, we wouldn’t have had the opportunity to grow as a team. Here’s to the next 5 years!

New offices, new energy

In 2019, we didn’t just move once but three times (!)… We created awesome new office spaces in Kramatorsk, Kyiv and Amsterdam for our teams to work, relax and grow.

New clients, new friends

This year we collaborated with a bunch of new clients for some really exciting and innovative digital products. We helped bring Maxeda’s new and improved Praxis and Brico mobile apps to life, we were able to craft an innovative Voice solution together with the Heineken Digital Acceleration Team for HEINEKEN’s Drinkies Voice app, and we assisted the Black Jaguar Foundation and Mission Possible Foundation with the creation, development, and launch of their new web platforms. We also developed a sophisticated new digital platform for leading South African creative powerhouse, Ginkgo Agency and started a new collaboration with Amsterdam based on-demand DIY platform Zoofy.

We like words. And so we write a lot during the year. It’s our way of keeping our extended Brainiac family up to date with all the latest developments from WeAreBrain and the industry as a whole. So, in keeping with our tradition, here is a list of our most-read articles of 2019:

Trend predictions for 2020

So we aren’t in the business of telling the future, but we are in the business of keeping an eye on the latest trends and technologies of tomorrow. Earlier this year, I penned my thoughts and ideas of what tech trends to look out for in 2020. Do you agree?

And that’s a wrap on 2019

2019 has been good to all of us, and we are so proud of the exceedingly high calibre of work we have created for our valued clients across the globe. We continue to remain driven and motivated to excellence as a benchmark of the WeAreBrain standard. Each member of our lovable and growing team of Brainiac entrepreneurs has played a vital role in realising our successes in 2019.

As we look forward to the tantalising challenges that 2020 has in store, we want to show our gratitude to all our clients, friends, and families for the support you have shown us in 2019. We will look forward to our much-needed end of year break to rest, recharge, and recalibrate our focus to tackle 2020 with excitement and vigour!

Thank you to all of our creative savants we get to call our Brainiac ️family. Without you, none of this would be possible.

3, 2, 1… 2020 here we come!
