2023 has certainly been another incredible year of growth and achievement. As we wrap things up, we want to look at what has made 2023 a standout year for us feisty and determined Brainiacs.
But first, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every one of our partners, clients, and amazing Brainiacs for your continued collaboration and trust. None of this would have been possible without your support.
Without further adieu, here’s what we got up to in 2023.
2023 standouts
We have a lot to be proud of and grateful for this year, which we’ll get into. But first, here are a few highlights:
Driving digital unity
Our champion CEO and co-founder Elvire Jaspers has excelled in her first year as a board member of Dutch Digital Agencies. Her PR and Thought Leadership contributions have enhanced the organisation’s visibility as it continues cultivating a collaborative ecosystem of leading digital game-changers across the Netherlands.
Up to the GenAI challenge
Our incredible Brainiacs in Amsterdam and Kyiv took part in the Maxeda GenAI Hackathon 2023. They dazzled us with their skills during an intense 24-hour coding challenge and developed innovative GenAI solutions.
Acquisition success
Our passion project, clevergig, was acquired by Visma, Europe’s leading supplier of business-critical software. We were strongly involved in the building of clevergig, so we are incredibly proud of its significant milestone.
They grow up so fast
Tur.ai, a long-standing project close to our hearts, took its bold first steps into the market as an independent entity. We’ve helped develop and guide the company for many years and wish them the best in their new adventure.
A year of exciting projects
2023 would have been very boring if it wasn’t for the opportunity to work on some amazing and challenging projects.
Large-scale cloud migration
Our dedicated CommerceCore team pulled off a gigantic migration project for our long-lasting client, Maxeda DIY Group. We successfully performed a full-scale SAP upgrade and dataset cloud migration which took 6 months to complete.
Seamless CMS consolidation
We redesigned Urban Gym Group’s various brand websites with a bespoke solution architecture to consolidate the content management systems of their 5 separate entities into a single platform. Look out for more exciting projects in 2024.
Sustainable development goals
We’re proud to continue our commitment to ensure the projects we work on align with the UN’s sustainable development goals. In 2023, we fulfilled 15 out of 17 goals and in 2024 we’re aiming for a clean sweep.
For example, our Maxeda AR feature touches SDG goal number 12 by reducing unnecessary usage and waste of wood for floors. Additionally, the app’s new AI feature helps cut down energy consumption.
New partners and clients
This year, we proudly partnered with the award-winning Dutch creative agency Black Magic Marker. We have exciting projects in the pipeline for 2024 and can’t wait to unleash a new era of creative campaigns – watch this space!

This year, we dove head-first into positioning ourselves as thought leaders in the technology space.
New website
After months of hard work, we launched our brand new company website this year. We wanted our new piece of digital real estate to reflect our growth and expansion so we added new features to a fresh and sleek design.
Spreading ideas
We published 60+ new articles on our blog, covering the latest ideas and trends shaping our digital world. Thank you to all our loyal readers, you rock!

Elvire in the spotlight
Our pioneering CEO Elvire Jaspers has had quite the year in the spotlight, sharing her unique insight and vast experience in leadership, entrepreneurship, inclusivity, and more.
- She was quoted in an international EY article titled Future-fit leadership: A beacon for female entrepreneurs which explores how female entrepreneurs can succeed in the modern business landscape.
- She was invited onto Teamleader’s Agency Life podcast to share insights into how WeAreBrain maintain its unique team culture while embracing remote working.
- Invited to a panel discussion of women leaders for BeeQueen Leaders’ Inspiration Through Inclusivity series where she spoke about creating a lasting legacy to inspire women entrepreneurs.
- Invited to speak at the EY Entrepreneurial Winning Women EMEIA conference in Cape Town to speak about remote teams, upskilling talent, and fostering business culture.
- She was invited to co-host the Zakendoen on BNR Nieuwsradio and discussed the digitisation initiatives in the culture sector of the Netherlands.
WeAreBrain Foundation
Thanks to the ongoing support of so many partners, we are able to help take care of those affected by the war in Ukraine. A special thank you to Daiwa House Modular Europe and our friends at Bregal Helps Initiative for helping to make a significant difference to those who need it most.
We continue to keep our candle burning for all of our friends, families, and loved ones who are still being impacted by the war.
We’re ready for you, 2024
With 2023 almost as wrapped as our Christmas gifts, we’re already looking ahead at what is waiting for us in 2024.
It’s going to be a big year for us for many reasons, mainly because in January 2025 we will turn 10! Over the next 12 months, we will count down our double-digit birthday by celebrating our team, partners, clients, and our collective happiness.
We pray for peace in Ukraine and the entire world and wish that 2024 will be a year of peace and prosperity for all.
