Introducing Oleksandr, our Javascript juggernaut

Written by: Samantha Wolhuter

If you’ve ever wanted to find out more about the colourful characters that make up our amazing team of Brainiacs, you have come to the right place. For the latest instalment of our Brainiac Team Profile series, we are exalted to introduce to you the ever-friendly and talented, Oleksandr Kolomiiets.

Oleksandr is one of our fantastic JavaScript developers responsible for building amazing digital assets like websites and apps complete with fancy features and customised functionality. JavaScript is a scripting language that enables developers like Oleksandr to create dynamically updating content, animate images, control multimedia, and a whole lot more.

As any decent developer worth his salt, Oleksandr thrives in complex environments. “It might sound strange, but complexity is my passion. Whenever a complicated task comes across my desk, I get really excited as I see it as a challenge that I can solve” he says.

Known by his fellow Brainiacs as a reliable team player with excellent communication skills, Oleksandr’s fastidious nature fits in well with the WeAreBrain vibe. “I love the well-organised working process we have at Brain. What makes it even better is being able to work alongside such a talented team of Brainiacs every day”.

The focus he puts into his work responsibilities is echoed in his personal life. His mantra is “Discipline beats the class” and you can tell that he lives by these words. Oleksandr is an avid gym-goer (hulking weights around 3-4 times a week) and also likes to keep his mental physique shredded, too. “I really enjoy reading a lot of non-fiction literature. Dawkins, Krauss, and Sagan are my favourite authors”. When he isn’t turning pages, Oleksandr enjoys learning from the educational videos of Veritasium on YouTube.

“I guess I have always been fascinated by science and space. Since I was a young boy, I have dreamed of becoming an astronaut. If I could be anyone for a day, I would definitely be an astronaut doing a spacewalk outside the International Space Station”.

Oleksandr has only two wishes: to be able to fly like Superman and to speak English fluently. Well, Ole, with your work ethic and determined mindset we have no doubt that you will be speaking the Queen’s in no time! And for the Superman thing: let us know how that goes 🙂
