Meet Oleksii N, Ruby on Rails developer and WeAreBrain comeback kid
We’re very happy to welcome Oleksii N back into the WeAreBrain fold. Two years ago he left WeAreBrain to broaden his horizons and after a couple of years out in the ‘wilderness’, he’s back home with his fellow Brainiacs. Oleksii is a super-skilled Ruby on Rails developer and is working on SidelineSwap, an e-commerce platform which allows users to buy and sell quality used sports gear.
“I really like to see the results of my work and how I am able to play a role in how the projects grow. I get great pleasure when I see my code helping projects expand and get new users, and when they become more stable, and acquire new functionality”. There’s that ‘pride in taking ownership in one’s work’ that WeAreBrain is all about!
So how does Oleksii N. find his job and teammates? “I am so impressed with the care WeAreBrain takes in their employees. Just 2 months ago I was looking for a new job and so I reviewed a lot of companies. It didn’t take me long to realise that very few of them offer as many benefits as WeAreBrain offers. I also really respect and admire the people working here. Every single person is very friendly and open to new ideas”.
Oleksii also exhibits great self-awareness. When asked what skill he would like to have that he doesn’t have already he says “I’d like to be more patient and deliberate a situation more effectively. It’s important to stop, think and weigh up the pros and cons. Sometimes I can be a little too impulsive”.
If he didn’t possess the knack for great coding and Ruby on Rails proficiency, Oleksii N. would have liked to have been a pilot in another life. “Flying aeroplanes seems unbelievable to me. I understand how the physical processes occur during flight, but it still seems like magic to me. And the views that can be seen from an aeroplane are unlikely to match anything else, in my opinion.” Oleksii N. dreams of road-tripping through every country in Europe to see the sights, smell the smells and hear the sounds of a beautiful continent, so rich in history and culture. His favourite motto he endeavours to live by each day is ‘Don’t be an a**hole’. He jokes that this is not always possible but he strives for it nonetheless. We don’t see any evidence to the contrary, Oleksii N.!
