WeAreBrain powers smart digital platform to help fight against global malnutrition

Written by: Jadan McCullough

WeAreBrain has collaborated with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) to create a digital platform for one of its partners, Food Action Cities — a global organisation that facilitates local and global food systems aimed at improving nutrition advocacy. Food Action Cities aims to scale and diversify ‘city to city’ sharing of experiences gained through efforts to transform urban food systems for the benefit of all.

Inspiring awareness

The platform is designed to create awareness, inspire, and inform food and nutrition actions in various cities and urban settings around the world. WeAreBrain identified two audience types that the platform needed to engage with directly: those who are aware of the platform’s vision and utilise the site to obtain relevant information, and those who acknowledge the need for action but are unsure where to begin the process.

Thus, the platform has been developed to be easy to use and understand, and both informative and inspiring. The platform’s rich content is designed to inform partners about the various nutrition projects in cities around the world through seamless design and functionality.

Meaningful digital

The mobile and web platforms were created using WordPress technology that allows for a reduced digital and carbon footprint and easy accessibility on slower connections found in developing nations with limited internet access.

Additionally, the simple CMS allows for easy updates and maintenance without the requirement of professional website developers.

The primary intention of the platform is to inspire others to take action. Visitors should feel inspired to make positive change and feel equipped with the tools, advice, and how-to guidance on how to make changes to their current food and nutritional concerns.

The platform went live in June 2021. Visit https://foodactioncities.org/ to learn more.

About the client
