Building a sovereign AI platform for Europe’s regulated industries
The challenge
AI adoption is accelerating, but for organisations working with sensitive, confidential or regulated data, using public AI services creates a different set of questions.
Where is the data processed? Which jurisdiction applies? Who controls the underlying models? Can every output be traced? And how can organisations introduce AI without losing control over compliance, security and professional responsibility?
Our client saw an opportunity to build European AI infrastructure specifically for this market.
The ambition behind Nostrion was bigger than launching another AI product. The company wanted to create a sovereign AI platform capable of powering multiple specialist applications across regulated professions.
WeAreBrain was brought in to help turn that technical ambition into a clear proposition, product experience and market-facing brand.
Our solution
From infrastructure to proposition
The starting point was a strong technical idea: organisations should be able to use AI while keeping control of their data, infrastructure and workflows.
Our work was to make that idea understandable and commercially relevant.
Together with the Nostrion team, we defined a positioning around three core principles:
- European digital sovereignty
- AI designed for regulated professional workflows
- Human control over consequential decisions
Rather than presenting sovereignty as a technical feature, we connected it directly to the operational concerns of legal, financial, healthcare and other regulated organisations.
Data ownership, jurisdiction, auditability and security became part of the product proposition.
Building a platform for multiple industries
Nostrion was designed as a shared technology foundation rather than a collection of disconnected AI tools.
The platform provides a common sovereign AI infrastructure on which specialised sector solutions can be developed.
This created an important brand and UX challenge. The website needed to explain the underlying platform while showing how that infrastructure translates into practical applications for individual professions.
WeAreBrain developed a scalable digital structure connecting the core platform with sector-specific propositions.
Each vertical could address its own workflows, terminology, regulatory pressures and business problems while remaining recognisably part of Nostrion.
Turning technical architecture into a clear digital experience
The website had to speak to several audiences at once, including business leaders, technology teams, compliance stakeholders, industry specialists, potential partners and investors.
We created an information architecture that progressively moves from the business problem to the technology behind it.
Visitors can understand:
- why sovereign AI matters
- how the platform works
- how data remains under European control
- where AI can support specific professional workflows
- how human review and accountability remain embedded in the process
- how new sector applications can be built on the shared infrastructure
The resulting experience makes a technically demanding subject accessible without reducing it to generic AI marketing.
Creating a vertical growth model
The platform strategy also shaped Nostrion’s go-to-market model.
Instead of targeting the entire enterprise AI market with one proposition, we helped create a framework for entering highly specific professional sectors.
Each vertical starts with the pressures facing that profession, such as talent shortages, increasing administrative workloads, growing compliance requirements and rising client expectations.
From there, Nostrion can identify workflows where private AI can create measurable operational value.
This approach creates a repeatable model for launching new sector propositions while keeping the underlying technology, governance and infrastructure consistent.
From sovereign infrastructure to specialist AI companies
Fidacta, developed for the notarial sector, became one of the first examples of this model in practice.
It demonstrates how the same sovereign infrastructure can support a highly specialised AI proposition with its own domain knowledge, workflows, product experience and market identity.
The wider Nostrion platform provides the foundation for applying this model across additional regulated industries.
Outcome
Nostrion now has a clear market proposition connecting sovereign AI infrastructure with the practical needs of regulated organisations.
WeAreBrain helped establish the strategic, digital and go-to-market foundations required to grow from a technology platform into a portfolio of specialist AI propositions.
The result is a model designed to scale across industries without compromising the principles at its core: European control, secure infrastructure, traceability and professional oversight.
